When A to Z is unclear...
Pipeline offers process development as a service to our customers who need a way to perform new and novel test, inspection, and manufacturing actions. A common case is companies who are manufacturing an existing product and need to increase or improve their production. Oftentimes these processes are being performed manually and significant increases or improvements are impractical or impossible without developing new/faster/better processes. With Pipeline’s years of experience developing test fixtures, custom equipment, and automation, we have the background and know-how to transform a slow, unreliable process into a fast and consistent one.
Some projects are straightforward and there is a clear path to get from A to Z. Others are not. In these cases experimentation, trial and error, & laboratory testing are required to illuminate the path…in other words research & development (commonly referred to as simply R&D) efforts. We might start your process development by creating a way to get only from A to B, and then from B to C, and so on until at the end we finally reach Z. This is an area of particular skill at Pipeline, and one in which we have had success when even large global R&D teams have not.
From metal working machines (mill & lathe) to a plethora of bench tools to a host of instrumentation and gauges & deep experience with automation (robots, vision systems, sensors, etc), our R&D lab has been built specifically to enhance our process development capabilities (we also have a robust “duct tape and super glue” drawer). We have even developed custom software and tools which allows our team to rapidly deploy & test automation solutions at a benchtop level during the process development phase.
Pipeline commonly works with other engineering organizations as an extension of their internal team. We integrate tightly and coordinate closely to ensure the right progress is being made. Our customers who find the most value in outsourcing their process development and R&D activities to us are those who either lack the capability or bandwidth internally to do it themselves, and thus engage Pipeline to do so to accelerate the advancement of their development programs. Also, since Pipeline provides integration services, as well, not only can we develop your new processes, but we can then design and build the custom production equipment around those processes.
